Hike With Smokey

A unique children's program that involves the whole family!

Children can take a hike with Smokey by borrowing a backpack filled with conservation education materials and activities and, of course, a Smokey Bear doll, to use on the grounds of Grey Towers.

Smokey BackpackParticipants will receive Smokey Bear and forest fire educational materials to take home after they complete the activities in the pack. The program, which is geared toward youngsters pre-school (with help) through age 10, teaches about fire prevention and the use of fire in forest management and provides an activity to include in your visit. We encourage use of the backpack on the Forest Discovery Trail. The packs are designed for children to use individually or for small groups of children, such as day camps or school groups, with teacher leadership.

Smokey backpacks can be checked out during regular visitor days/hours. There is no fee. One adult participant will be asked to leave a photo I.D. while they are using the pack. For more information, please call 570-296-9630.
